Mr. Francis was one of a rare group of people who are non-judgmental. He was friendly with all students and was more than willing to help you out with anything that he could. He will be missed.
I remember you as one of my favorite substitute teacher at Schuylkill Valley High School. You were the most nice, caring, and funny teacher. I remember the first time that you were a substitute in one of my classes….you were walking around being open and talking to everyone and most importantly having a sense of humor. It is hard to come across people like that today and that is how you will be remembered. You will be missed and never forgotten….RIP…:(

Best sub ever!!! You will be missed R.I.P
The best part of my days at Muhlenberg were walking into a classroom and Mr. Francis was there to sub. I’ve seen him a few times since graduating and he always said hello even if he didn’t know your name. He’ll be greatly missed.
Not only were you a enthusiastic teacher, but you were one of the most amazing subs. It was just a couple months ago you were standing in front of the class doing what you do best. This was so unexpected and I would like to find out what you passed away from. RIP MR. Francis
He will be missed by many. He was a very sweet man.
I am very sad to hear your news. Thoughts are with you and your family.
S. Wood

As evident by the many comments from former students already listed, Mr. Francis had an incredible demeanor, and when substituting had the know-how to keep a room full of rowdy kids under control. Over the years as we grew up having Mr. Francis in class, we all further appreciated his witty, laid-back approach. You will be missed!
Mr. Francis was one of the best substitue teachers of my time. he will be greatly missed. )’:
May you rest in eternal peace Mr. Francis Easily one of the best substitutes to walk the halls of Muhlenberg. The man was non-confrontational, and a master of zhen. You will be missed, and NEVER forgotten. Your stories, and the stories of you will live on in our memories.
Mr. Francis you were an amazing teacher and even better man! Our days in high school were better when you were part of them! Your smiling face will greatly be missed! RIP Mr. Francis!
It’s amazing how a great guy you seen only a few times a year as a sub and he still could have the touch on your life. He was the best guy you could as for as a teacher. You got your wings now buddy and pain is over. Rest your soul.
Mr. Francis was one of the most caring people that I have ever been blessed to meet!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to my mom’s best friend, Sue, Dave’s wife, and his family. I have many of fun memories of Dave, and I will truly miss him.
He was a great sub at SV. Always in a good mood and he always treated his students with respect, which you really appreciate as a student. He seemed to really enjoy what he was doing and that enjoyment was contagious. One of the best, if not the best sub in the district. He’ll be missed.
You were the best substitue teacher anybody could ask for. You will be missed. RIP Mr. Francis
He was the favorite substitute of everyone at Muhlenberg. He always had an ear to listen and great stories to tell. He will be missed by so many students. RIP Mr. Francis
He was an amazing sub for Muhlenberg both in middle school and high school. I had him numerous times and always was excited, as was the entire class, to have him teaching for the day. He will be greatly missed by the entire Muhlenberg School district and any student who ever had him. He was close friends with my uncle since he worked with Mr. Francis’s wife. It is a terrible shame that his time has run out, but he will be remembered fondly.
You will be missed, Mr. Frances. You were a great sub for all of us–we always hoped it would be you when we found out that our teachers were absent. You were a great guy and I enjoyed the time I spent talking to you. Rest in Peace.
I was so happy when you filled in as my partner teacher at Hamburg High School. Im so glad that just before school was over we had a nice conversation about how you felt about certain things. You made my job easy
Dave and I went to school together, both elementary and high schools. I remember one time when we got caught soaping windows at Halloween time and had to clean all the windows that we did. Cleaning the windows wasn’t so bad, but when the Birdsboro Police said we had to tell our folks….well that nipped our juvenile delinquency in the bud.I admired Dave when I was younger and continue to do so today. He definitely one of the good guys and he’ll be missed. My thoughts to his family.
God bless you Mr. Francis and family. Thank you for everything you’ve done. Your one in a million. Praying for you and your family, always<3

Mr. Francis, Mr. Francis what a great guy!! He was the best substitute teachers and person all around. Thanks to him he made my high school experience much more enjoyable! R.I.P.
Mr. Francis was THE best sub that I’ve ever had. He is honestly the only sub that I still remember from school. It was always a joy to walk into a classroom and find that you had Mr. Frances as your sub that day. It is a shame that no more students will be able to feel that joy. R.I.P Mr. Francis (Muhlenberg Class of 98)
Rest in Peace, Mr. Francis. SVMS will miss you. You always had a kind word to say about the kids at SV. They loved having you for a sub. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Mr. Francis was one of the most caring, funny, nicest people I have ever met. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to and knowing him. He was one of the best people to ever live. He will truly be missed by so many. Rest In Peace Mr. Francis, and God Bless You and the rest of your family and friends…
I was notified of David’s death by a classmate from D.B.H.S., class of 1969. I am sorry for your loss. David and I knew one another from Science Club in high school, and we went to his senior prom together back in 1969.
Mr. Francis was a great man, and touched the hearts of so many people in his 61 short years. Only the good die young — Rest in peace, Mr. Francis.
I saw David’s obit in the newspaper. I am truly sorry for your loss. I knew David while we were growing up in Birdsboro. It is obvious that he touched many lives and inspired many people while teaching. What a beautiful tribute his past students have made here. My prayers are with him and all of his family
Mr. Francis was a great human being, as kind as anyone who has walked our earth. We’ll never forget him.
I am sorry to here about Dave. He helped my son Adam with homeschooling. He was a good man. We will never forget him.
Great man, the best substitute teacher you could ever hope for.
Mr. Francis was the best sub anyone could ever ask for. You ask ANY student from MHS who the coolest sub was and the answer will be Mr. Francis. Where all the other teachers put me down and treated me like crap because I was different, he treated me like a normal kid. He showed interest in my art and even 10+ years later when I ran into him at the mall, he asked if I was still drawing. Mr. Francis taught thousands of students throughout his career, which many teachers have, but he actually remembers each and every one of us. Even though there is a well earned, comfortable place in heaven waiting for him, he will be sadly missed and forever mourned here on earth. Rest in peace Mr. Francis… you will always have a special place in our hearts.
Mr. Francis was a wonderful and supportive man. He will be missed by many.
Dave was a great friend. Always kind and gentle and very caring. When I left Nativity you reached out to me and remained our friend. We both loved Dave very much! God bless you! Susan and the family.
Mr. Francis was a great man. He would always talk to you when he saw you in the hall or he was subbing for your class. I don’t know how he did it, but he always stayed calm.
R.I.P. Mr. Francis
Mr. Francis was always the highlight of any ones day. Walking into class and seeing him was the best gift. He was such a great sub and it is truly ashame the future students will not get to know this man. It was a pleasure and honor having him in school. He will be greatly remembered. RIP Mr. Francis.
Condolences to his wife and extended family. Always a pleasant smile, wave of a hand and a “Hello”, that was what seeing Mr. Francis in the hall would mean. As a colleague at SVHS, his presence will be dearly missed, his valuable contribution to the classroom and to our students will be mourned. May he sit with angels on high.
Mr. Francis was one the greatest teachers you will ever find. He loved his students and his profession and it showed in the classroom. I have fond memories of helping him as he subbed while I was in high school. Even after I graduated and was out somewhere he would always stop and talk to me and my family and ask me how things were going!! He is the type of teacher I aspire to be one day! He touched the lives of so many and so many loved him, it is really sad to know that future students will not have the opportunity to be taught by a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family! Rest in peace Mr. Francis, you will be incredibly missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of many forever, God Bless you <3
I worked with Mr. Francis as a substitute teacher for many years. He was a wonderful and caring person. We will miss him!
