George V. Beitzel,95,formerly of Reading,passed away at 6:35 PM of natural causes,July 22nd, at the Topton Lutheran Home,where he was a resident since 1997.
George was born in Reading, on February 18, 1915, the son of the late George D. and Beulah E. (Frantz) Beitzel.

He was the widower of Pearl M. (Zuber) Beitzel. She died August 23,1998.

He worked as a machinist at Cartech in Reading for 44 years. He retired in 1980.

He served in the US Navy in both World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of the Patriotic Order Sons of America -Washington Hall.

He loved his grandchildren and to hunt and fish.

He was a 1934 graduate of Reading High School and a graduate of Wyomissing Poly -Tech.

He was a member of St. Thomas U.C.C., Reading, where he was also a member of the church council.

George is survived by
a son,Dale C. husband of Linda L.(Yeakel) Beitzel of Fleetwood.

He is also survived by 2 grandchildren-Christopher A. and Kathleen L. Beitzel

Services from the Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.,1501 N. 11th St., Reading, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 31st.

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Saturday 9:00-10:00 AM.

Interment at Forest Hills Memorial Park .

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Endowment Fund-St. Thomas UCC 851 North 11th St. Reading, PA 19604.

  6. Mr. Beitzel (we would never dare to call him anything else — ever)was a genuine old school man, who demanded AND DESERVED respect. I (obviously) still recall the time he “straightened me out” when I was doing something dumb in one of the alleys we played in as kids.
