Hahn, Myrtle E.

Myrtle E. Hahn, 89, of Laureldale and formerly of Reading, went home to be with the Lord on February 18, 2012 from the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born at home in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Rachel E. (Evans) and Adam (Frank) Malick. She was the seventh of nine children.

She was widow of Alexander S. Hahn, who died January 17, 2006.

She was a graduate of Reading High School, class of 1940. She was employed as a secretary for Northeastern Lumber Company and Princess Royal Knitting Mills, both of Reading.

Myrtle attended Calvary Baptist Church of Reading. Previously she taught Good News Clubs, and children’s and adult Sunday school classes at St. Paul;s Evangelical Congregational Church, Reading. She wrote radio scripts for the Young People’s Gospel Center of Reading from the 1930′s until the 1950′s. Myrtle also sang in various choirs throughout her adult life.

Myrtle was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are daughters, Elaine Hahn, Reading, and Janice, wife of George Eisenhower, Muhlenberg Township, and son, David husband of Tammy, Laureldale, and family friend, Tom Johnson, Shillington. Also, surviving are grandchildren Alexis Hahn, Timothy Hahn, Tyler Hahn, John Eisenhower, Julia Eisenhower and Savannah Hahn. She is also srivived by her sister Rachel Hohl of Wernersville, niece Linda Easterday, and nephews William McCaskey, Mark Hahn and Luke Hahn.

She was predeceased by siblings Catherine, Margaret, Ethel, Mildred, Kenneth and Richard husband of Sarah Malick, Charlotte wife of William McCaskey, niece Claire McCaskey, nephew Alan Hohl and in laws Robert husband of Jane Hahn.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:30 at Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1501 North 11th Street, Reading. Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M. The Rev. Russell Weidel will be officiating.
