Mervine, Roy A.

Roy A. Mervine, 89, of Reading, passed away Saturday, May 6th, at Berks Heim Leesport.

Roy was born in Reading, on February 4, 1928, a son of the late Elizabeth (Essig) and Roy M. Mervine.

He was the husband of Carolyn F. (Sowers) Mervine.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church,Reading. He had sung in the Church choir.

Roy graduated from Reading High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

Mr. Mervine worked as a chemical worker at Firestone – Occendental Pottstown.

He was a lifetime member of the Reading Civic Theater, Roy was very active in arts and theater and he loved drawing cartoons and caricatures; in addition his favorite hobbies were fishing and karaoke.

Roy is survived by
a daughter, Cynthia I., wife of Carey Hess, of Temple; and a granddaughter Jennifer Lynn wife of Ben Graham, North Carolina

He was predeceased by a sister Marion Kralles.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 11th at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 151 North 9th Street, Reading, PA 19604.

Friends are also invited to call 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, at the Church.

Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church 151 North 9th Street Reading, PA 19604.
