Doris I. (Crowin) Kramer, 79, born in Reading, July 16, 1930, peacefully passed away on, June 25, 2010 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, under the compassionate care of the E3 North nursing staff, medical and palliative care services, and Heartland Hospice.

Mrs. Kramer was the daughter of the Doyle B. Corwin and Elma M. (Huyett) Corwin.

She was married 47 years to the late John H. Kramer, a former elected Berks County Sheriff. Mrs Kramer was predeceased by two daughters, Joan L. and Kathy E. Kramer. She is survived by a son, Captain John C. Kramer, U.S. Air Force, residing in Alexandria, Virginia.

Also, surviving is a sister, Ethel L. Aulenbach, Reading, and a brother, Gary D. Corwin, Temple. She was predeceased by a brother, Wilbur E. Corwin. Also, surviving are many relatives from both the Corwin and Kramer families.

Mrs. Kramer was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School. She along with her late husband were former owners of the Rising Sun Hotel at Tenth and Pike Streets, Reading, from 1955-76. They were the original sponsers of the Rising Sun Sunners Athletic Association little league sports program and the former Rising Sun men’s fastpitch softball team. The softball team went on to represent the United States in the 1976 World softball tournament in Auckland, New Zealand, where the team finished as tri-world champions. Mrs. Kramer was also well-know for her homemade crab cakes that she diligently prepared and served at the hotel.

She was an incredibly selfless, caring and loving person who effortlessly touched the lives of her family, relatives, dear friends and neighbors. Her passing will remain a tremendous loss and fond memories of her will carry on forever.

Services from the Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1501 North 11th Street, Reading, on Wednesday, June 30th at 11:00 A.M.

Friends may call Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Joan L. (Dower) Brumbach-Cullen, 73, formerly of Reading,passed away at 3:20 PM, Monday, June 21st, 2010, in the home of her daughter,Terry,in Riverview Park.

Joan was born in N. Heidelberg Twp. on August 12, 1936, the daughter of the late Elmer and Marie (Luck) Dower.

She was the widow of Thomas W. Cullen. He died 10/12/2000.

Joan was employed by the Reading School District for 8 years and she retired in 2009.During that time she was very proud of being a study hall monitor and she enjoyed working with children. She previously worked for NGK Metals in Muhlenberg Twp. for 18 years.

She loved fishing and spending time with her family.

Joan is survived by
five daughters, Sherry L. Brumbach of New Smyrna Beach,FL.,
Tammy C. Brumbach of Leesport,
Terry L. wife of Kenneth DeWald of Riverview Park,
Linda J. McArthur of Riverview Park and
Jodie L. Brumbach,fiancee of John Hiester of Reading.

She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother,William Dower.

Robert R. Pickel, 85, of Wernersville, passed away at 11:25 PM, Saturday, June 19th, 2010,while in the company of family members in his residence.

Robert was born in Reading on February 2, 1925, the son of the late Howard F. and Mary E. (Gring) Pickel.

He was the husband of Ruth A. (Soder) Pickel.

He was employed as a expediter at Dana Corporation ,Reading ,for 31 years. He retired in 1986.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seebees in WW II.

He was Past Commander of VFW Haag Post # 378 and he was a lifetime member of the Ivy Leaf Association.

Robert is survived by
a son,Gary E. husband of Janice Pickel of Sinking Spring.

He is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Services from the Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.,1501 N. 11th St., Reading, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 24th.

Samuel Lee Reppert, 21, of Womelsdorf, died Sunday, June 13th, 2010 ,in Marion Township.

Sam was born in Reading, on November 20, 1988, the son of Charles S. Reppert ,Womelsdorf,and Kathleen M. (Reiter) Reppert of Downingtown.He is survived by his paternal grandparents-Catherine Bender of Reading and Charles Reppert ,Sr. of Reading.

He worked as a mechanic at Ray Barton, Robesonia, for 3 years.

He loved the outdoors,fishing,hunting,snowmobiling. He also loved to build and fix cars and build choppers.

He was a 2007 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School.

Sam is also survived by
a sister, Layla Hoffman of Nebraska,
three brothers, Jacob Crosby of Quakertown, Brendan Nedelka of Downingtown, Charles Reppert,Jr. of W.Reading.
He is also survived by his aunt Debby Reiter,Birdsboro and an uncle,Zora Lloyd of Birdsboro.Also surviving are his aunts Deb Frantz of Reading and Cathy Schaeffer.

The family will receive friends Friday 5:00-8:00 PM at the Sanders Funeral Home & Cremation Services,Inc.,1501 N. 11th St.,Reading. There will be no viewing.

Interment private at the convenience of the family.

Marie E. Wahl, 98, formerly of Reading, passed away Friday, June 11th, 2010 ,of natural causes at Friendship Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center,Friendswood,Texas.

Marie was born in Reading on June 7, 1912, the daughter of the late George E. and Florence (Gallman) Shultz.
She was the widow of James A. Wahl. He died August 12,1997.
Marie was employed as an office manager at the Reading Public Museum where she retired in 1974.

She was Past President of the Reading School District Secretarial Union,AFSCME Local #790.

Marie had been a member of Olivet Reformed Church,Reading.

Marie is survived by
a son,H. Jere husband of Martha Schreck of Friendswood,Texas.

Marie is also survived by
a sister, Georgette M. wife of Darrell L. Smeddon of Reading.

She is also survived by 2 grandchildren-Mary Beth-wife of Matthew Rosier of Levittown and John,husband of Michele Schreck of Florence,NJ. Also by 4 great grandchildren-Cody Rosier,Matthew Schreck,Lauren Schreck and Kathryn Schreck.
