Obituary for Clyde W. Hoffa

Clyde W. Hoffa, 80, died Monday February 5th 2018, in his home, with his brother by his side following a battle with cancer.

He leaves his brother, Dennis Hoffa; his nephews, Todd Hoffa, husband to Kelly Hoffa, and Scott Hoffa; nieces Kristi Shaffer and Jennifer Farrell, wife of Daniel Farrell; and his great nephews and great nieces Ian, Morgan, Meghan, Madison and Braydon.

Clyde was the son of George and Violet (Stoudt) Hoffa, born on July 11, 1937 in the Reading Hospital.

Clyde graduated from Governor Mifflin High School in 1955, and attended Davis and Elkins College, Elkins, West Virginia. Clyde served in the Army, completing 4 years, 2 of which were active duty in Germany. Clyde retired from Cartech after contributing 33 years.

Clyde had a passion for horses owning horses of his own. Clyde was a believer in the lord and was active in the church. Clyde always made time for his friends and family, spending a majority of the last 21 years attending his great nephew’s and great niece’s events no matter how far he needed to travel.

Clyde did not want any services and his family is honoring his request. Clyde simply asked that people would remember him fondly.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made in Clyde’s memory to the American Cancer Society.

The Sanders Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1501 N. 11th St., Reading, is in charge of the arrangements. Please sign our online guest register at
